Smarsket is an Australian grocery planning tool that builds a weekly basket, suggests meals, produces a shopping list and can read a photo of your supermarket receipt. This policy explains what information Smarsket handles when you use the app or website, and how it is used.
Guest trials use an essential secure cookie and server-side usage records to prevent repeated trials and control costs. Trial records contain keyed hashes of the trial identifier and network address, rather than the raw network address. Records older than 90 days are removed during subsequent trial activity. Shared networks may reach a trial limit. Your basket and draft requests are kept in browser storage so you can continue after signing in.
We handle basic technical information needed to run and secure the service, such as request and error logs, device/browser information sent by your browser, and records of feature usage (for example how many receipt scans you have used this month).
We do not sell your personal information.
Meal generation and receipt extraction are performed using third-party AI providers. When you use those features, the relevant content — your basket items and settings for meals, or the receipt image for scanning — is sent to that provider so it can perform the request and return a result. Only what is needed for the feature is sent.
Smarsket relies on service providers for hosting, databases, file storage and authentication. These providers process information on our behalf so the service can run. Supermarket price data used in the app comes from publicly listed retailer pricing and is not linked to you.
Receipt photos are stored privately and are accessible only to your account. Extracted purchase details are stored against your account so you can see your spending history and improve your Essentials. You can delete a receipt from within the app, which removes the receipt record and the purchase events created from it.
Information is kept while your account is active and for as long as needed to run the service or meet legal obligations. You can access and correct your settings in the app, delete receipts you have scanned, and request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information by contacting us through Smarsket.
We take reasonable steps to protect information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access — including access rules that restrict your data and receipt files to your own account, and encrypted connections. No online service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
The app links to supermarket and delivery websites so you can buy items. Those sites are operated by third parties and are governed by their own privacy policies.
Smarsket is intended for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children under that age.
We may update this policy as the service changes. The latest version will always be available at this page, with the date it was updated.
